The row crops are probably Lettuce. The Imperial Valley is great Lettuce country.
I used to work in El Centro back in the mid-'70s as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic for Schaefer's Ambulance. I was primarily stationed in El Centro, but was stationed up in Brawley for a while.
