I live in a smaller town pop. 14000 or so.
When WalMart announced that they were building a supercenter in town you should have heard the wailing 'all the local businesses will close','downtown will be ruined', exc.
The reality was that there were many more people coming to town and a few businesses that were just hanging on before did better.
Not to mention the hundreds of people employed in the construction and those employed in the store.
