I also think it is a matter of clearance rather than safe steering with the hitch placement.
I have not seen the 5th wheel trailer but if it is anything like their bumper pull trailer; well lets just say if you ever saw their bumper pull trailer you would think this 5th wheel hitch is a big step UP.
