It is true that OnStar can be used to track and disable stolen vehicles. If you have OnStar turned on, you can get an insurance discount for this reason. However, I don't think it's so simple as for the finance company to place a phone call to OnStar and they kill your vehicle. It has to be reported stolen. In fact, the process to initiate tracking is cumbersome enough that Detroit police were complaining it took too long; by the time OnStar would start looking for a carjacked vehicle it was often already stripped.
