I had surgery on my back for a herniated disc in 1968 when I was 34. It's amazing how many tricks I've picked up and devised over the years to protect my back.
One thing I will NOT do is lift something heavy with someone else. I'm always afraid they'll screw up and throw the whole load onto me. If I need to move something, my wife will want to help. I'll tell her, "Just let me putter around myself. I'll get it done". I'm not sure I could live without my H Farmall with the loader on it.
