Just 'renting' them with no return date.
Companies are extending this to hardware in some instances.
A Sony Playstation console is a good example.
The large 'purchase' price is just to have it physically in your home. Open the case for any reason and they will know, and your online access is over.....
(and updates are 'no choice'. Do them or your machine will not work at all)
Since they and others have got away with this, look for other companies to follow.
