Actually the tornado ended up 3/4 mile to the East of me not West. Having said that, I remember seeing tornados on several occasions as a youngster. One time my Dad and I were in a pasture checking cows and a tornado was on each side of us. They were probably a mile away, each one, but as a kid that was neat. A lot of them will come down for a little bit and go back up and never do any damage. Just once in awhile do they cause damage. However, as my Dad was pointing out the tornados, a bolt of lightning came down and struck right by us (we were sitting in the truck) and killed 6 cows, all around the pickup. We never even felt anything as I remember. I remember looking at the cows and there was smoke coming out of there ears. They were deader than a mackerel. Probably 40 years ago now. This is in the center of Kansas. Bob
