The MF 135 was available with a vertical exhaust as you describe or a down swept exhaust that in the case of the 3 cylinder diesel engines passed under the left side foot plate and the outlet was just under the rear axle housing. The down swept exhaust was very popular with fruit farmers and Hop growers over here in Kent as it avoided damage from or to overhanging trees etc From memory the vertical exhaust does pass very close to the side of the bonnet panel but it should have a small clearance unless it has been bent at the base of the muffler where it clamps on to the exhaust outlet stubb.
