The internet is just the modern way to do it now. We opened a small business about 25 years ago and gave to a couple legit local organizations. I think there is some kind of a list they pass around that tells who the donators are. After about 2 years there was someone asking to donate to so and so about every day. We finally just quit giving to anybody except for one good local group that did the most good. They were asking for more in a years time than we were making.
