Most modern corn hybrids produce an even number of rows of kernels per cob (weird fact huh?) and 16 rows is a typical number, and 50 kernels per row is common, so 16 x 50 would be 800 kernels per ear.
HOWEVER those numbers vary according to the GEM = Yield formula (Genetics x Environment x Management = Final Yield). The specific hybrid planted, the environment (soil, temperature, water/lack of water, fertility, pests, etc..), and management (planting decisions, pest control, etc..) can all change the total number of kernels, size and weight of kernels, etc... and drastically effect what makes it to the bin and the bank.
