Well I bit the bullet and drained the tank fresh fuel and it still ran poor unless the choke was pulled part way out. First thing was to spray intake and check for leaks and I did not find any, so I pulled the carb. As soon as I pulled it down I found the problem, the gasket between the throttle body and carb was shot. So I start looking for a carb kit for a single throat holley carb. After two hours on the phone between O'Really, Napa, and Auto Zone I came up with a kit from NAPA. They did not have a listing for a Holley single barrel carb in trucks, finally a light came on in my head and I asked about a carb kit for 59 Ford car and low and behold there it was plain as day. Being quite satisfied with myself at this point I ask the cost of a single throat carb kit, would you believe $65, now that kind of took my breath away, so I asked about a bebuilt......$350. That kit used to cost $7 and a carb rebuilt was in the $50 range and they claim that there is no inflation.....Tell that to wall street cause us folks on main street and back street know better...
