I also carried, and lost, about a hundred pair of pliers.
The farm and home stores all carry them, but they are made in chink land.
I find quite a few of them at flea markets, antique stores, and yard sales. I like the flea markets that are "junky" the junkier the better. I generally pay $4-$6 for them. I buy every pair of old, american pliers I can find. And I am much more careful to not loose them now that they are hard to replace.
Almost all tools are now Chinese made and are junk.
