CH Wendel has a very good book covering most of them up to the 70's. He got well over 90% of the brands, however in the years since he wrote the book a handful of very obscure makes have been found, and there are a couple of models that a photograph or a hand full of parts exist so far noone has conclusively identified. There were just so many people experimenting with them int he teens and 20's we will probably never know all the ones that were built, let alone the ones that were worked on but never made it into production.
