Cant help you on the dodge end of it but I went from 7.3 ford diesel to a v10 and love it. My 7.3 was a 2003 with a crew cab dulley 4x4 I got 12mpg out of it. My gasser is a 2008 has a better tranny. Its also a crew cab s4x4 but short box and single rear wheel. I get 11-12 empty, i just brought home a 10k lbs dozer and empty with trailer (24ft 14kgvw goose neck) I got 9 and on the way back I got 7.9 I love the truck it has just as much if not more power than my 7.3.. That being said if I hauled every day I would want a diesel. For what I do occasional hauling and commuting it makes the most sense.
