GordoSD said: (quoted from post at 23:50:58 03/09/14) He didn't say he was a combat injured veteran, Today, a soldier that serves 2 years in Germany eating brats and guzzling beer at Octoberfest can leave the Army, apply for a "service connected disability" ie spark in the eye while grinding something, and receive SSA disability payments for the rest of his life, There are multi millions of veterans, There are few that are wounded warriors, or combat veterans.
"hero" is maybe a prejudgement. Maybe we can hear how this "vet" served and how he was 'disabled" I always want to hear the where and how before I start pinning medals on cooks in Germany.
The stated facts here are, he may be poor, he is collecting monthy payments from SSA, he moved to CO.
Regardless, an older person on a limited income is looking for a little help. We had someone jump right in to offer it up. Rather than dis the vet, lets applaud the young man!!! :D
And Old too for knowing where to seek help for his bud! :D
