I got a kick out of how Tri-State could drive cross country with their loads but as soon as they got to the Naval base the Navy gave them an escort,front and back, from the front gate to the ordinance bunkers there at NAS Norfolk. Its been 40 plus or so years ago but seems they had a distinctive light green paint job and used COE Freightliners. 40 ft. trailers were still the norm at the time.
