I worked part time in maintenance in an office building when I was in high school a very long time ago. The building had hot water heat. Nearly every radiator had a motorized zone valve, and every baseboard heater had one. In late summer or early fall one one my duties was to put a few drops of oil in every motorized zone valve in the building. There were several hundred of those valves. We never had a problem with any of them. The valves ranged form 15-20 years old when I worked there.
The only problem we ever had with that system was with the recirc pump. There were two springs that had to be replaced periodically.
