I served from 1967 to 1973. When I came back in '73, I was spit on and called a baby killer as I left the airport. I was a Navy Submariner! That was the last thing that happened to me in uniform. I was officially out and on the way home for the last time.
Since then, I can only double my support for the military men and women, while doubling the disdain I have for the jerks in DC and the useless population that does not support them.
I have Masonic tags on my car, and farm tags on my truck, and earned both of them. The tags that go to the guys from the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, the guys with extra weight in their butt, kids from the recent conflicts in the middle east, and the Korean and WWII Vets deserve those tags far more than I, even though I was in at the same time and took much the same risks. Those are their special badges of honor, and well deserved.....
