That really threw me when you said you put a squared off piece of wood in there to extend out the split. I couldn't see why it wouldn't split the block of wood! THEN......I looked closer at your splitter! Now it makes sense. My "wedge" on my splitter is on the cylinder. I can only split lengths up to 25" with mine. I'd sure like to be able to split longer pieces as my stove will accomodate up to 32". 'Sure do like your set-up.....nice.
