Sometimes you can't see the belt, so you make the stop in the belief they don't have it on and see whats up. I've had a lot of people that I could clearly see not wearing the belt swear up and down they were but I could clearly see that big silver buckle hanging there over their shoulder. People lie to cops all the time, human nature. It's funny when people get all bent out of shape for getting a ticket for 78 when they swear they were only doing 75. What's the point? You were still 20 over the speed limit!

I don't know why the cop stopped you. I never gave out a ticket I didn't think was accurate and deserved. Most cops I knew when I was on the job were the same. Some were climbers looking to write a lot of tickets and get promoted. You can teach a monkey to write tickets, so I never had a lot of respect for those guys. The bean counters love them though. The thing is that all the hairy chested BS and stories don't make a bit of difference in the end. Most cops I know do their best and get crap from the public and the job. It's a lousy job, but someone has to do it.

Brad is 100% right about the complaints. 1 every few years is one thing, especially if it's from a guy who comes across as an idiot to start with. Numerous complaints for the sme thing or in s short time get you looked at REAL close. Trust me, you don't want IAB on your butt even if you're in the right. That mythical "blue wall of silence" doesn't exist and hasn't for at least 25 years.

Today's Featured Article - History of the Nuffield Tractor - by Anthony West. The Nuffield tractor story started in early 1945.
