Sure is, but it does help to have the right people around you. I'm lucky enough to have inlaws that are dairy farmers. They do my planting /spraying and if I need something, I can rent it from them. One of my friends had 15 acres they let me rent. That was how I got my small hobby farm start. I seem to use farming as an excuse to collect tractors. I think I've justified the last 3 I've bought as raking/tedding tractors. :)
