Sold a 1963 Chev C60 yesterday. 4/2. Also have 64 F600 4/2. We have always used the 2 speed in each gear. Shift it different depending on load and what grade you are pulling. Don't try and shift 2 speed down when going down a grade. It sometimes won't kick in, and you are free wheeling. I pull a lot of 8-15% grade. I always use the clutch even if letting up it will shift. YES popping the clutch works when shift down on a up grade.
