I don't know if its a Class A system like many Delcos used on Deere and IHC and Oliver or a Class B like used on some Fords and Massey Harris etc. If its an A the Field circuit begins on the third brush, terminates out the gennys FLD post and then gets its regulated ground via a Low High charge switch or a Voltage Regulator.
If its a Class A System (suspect if its a Delco) below is my Troubleshooting Procedure. It also tells how to Polarize and how to determine if non charging is a Genny or a Voltage Regulator problem in Para 5.
