I've read through all of the questions and comments and appreciate your feedback - both the good and the bad. My response here is a little long, so please bear with me.

I'll try and address what I can and reach out individually to those that have serious problems with our product. Each situation is unique and different and involves more conversation, so most likely either our chemists or product technicians will get involved.

Just so you know Gold Eagle Co. is an 80-year old, family owned business based in Chicago. We take a lot of pride in our products. The owners (Bob and Rich Hirsch) are adamant that what we put in each bottle of our products (like STA-BIL) does exactly what the label says it does. Why? One reason is because there are a lot of false claims out there. We see it everyday. We need stay above the fray because there are many opinions on the validity of fuel stabilizers. Recently, we tried to address some of the myths as it concerns STA-BIL:

http://www.goldeagle.com/engine_care/stabil-myths.aspx

I can tell you that we are constantly conducting quality testing with every batch of STA-BIL produced and we also enlist third party testers to test our STA-BIL products as well as our competition (two of such test are ASTM - a standard fuel stability test and NACE - a corrosion protection test). It's absolutely necessary to conduct third-party tests because gasoline (from Diesel to E85) is always changing due to the weather, storage tanks, transportation conditions, individual vehicle/equipment storage situations, etc.

So what's in STA-BIL products? There's only so much I can say about that because it is a proprietary formula. As we state on our website "Our STA-BIL® branded products all contain a powerful mix of prevention additives and chemicals that neutralize acids, and “scavenge” oxygen in gasoline to prevent it from oxidizing, and coat metal surfaces to prevent corrosion. Each product in the STA-BIL® brand family performs a different function."

We produced extensive FAQs on STA-BIL because not all storage or usage situations are the same - hence the need for STA-BIL 360 Protection. We heard from our customers that they wanted a stronger formulated STA-BIL product to help fight corrosion.

I know this doesn't address everything and I'm thinking of inviting Tom Bingham and Mike Profetto into the conversation because they can address very specific and technical questions.

On behalf of all of us here at Gold Eagle (about 200 employees), please know that we take all of your feedback very seriously.

Please feel free to email me directly at jrook@goldeagle.com if you have specific questions that would better be addressed in a one-on-one conversation.

Regards,

Jennifer Rook
