I was reading up on Ford/NH 8240"s and I found this on another forum: The transmissions are fine if they are ran at the horsepower they where designed for, but as we know there isn"t a 8240 or 8340 under 150hp in the world. remember the pto hp for a 8340 was only 112. The weakest gears are 9th and 10th if you can stall the motor in those 2 gears on a warm tractor the transmission will be fine.
My question is what was done to increase the HP from 96 hp to 150+? And is there any way to look at mine to see if it"s been modified? Thanks! Bryan
