This is a 700R4.
They were only produced for three years; '82-'84. Total piece of junk and wouldn't even make a good boat anchor.
Everyone calls their replacement "a 700R4". However, they are a ompletely different transmission and it took GM until '91 to finally get 'em straightened out.
