: : A recent discussion on Tractor Tales gave me an idea. I'm thinking I would like to use my tractor to make ice cream at fairs, festivals or where ever. So his my question/questions: : : Do I need to build my own ice cream maker? If so does anyone have suggestions or plans? : : Can I buy a larger than normal ice cream maker? : : I realize using a tractor is overkill, but it's for fun and not meant to be economical. Should I try using the PTO or the belt pulley? : : Any comments or suggestions are welcom. No I don't own a hit n miss engine. : I think I'd run the gizmo with a hydraulic motor. Easy to hook up, speed easily controlled, instant on-off, light weight, and a lot safer to be around than a belt or pto setup. In these days of too may lawyers looking for work, your risk of liability needs to be kept as low as possible! *******Wildman: I'd run it with a belt and put a fence around it for safety. a belt looks like it is doing something and has show value. Ever here anybody wax nostalgic about the good old days of hydraulic motors ? Showmanship and nostalga sells, they can get modern stuff at Dairy Queen (if its open). :-)
