WOAH before you need to go that route. Look into one of those 12 volt sump pumps alla boat bilge. You have a car battery with a little maintainer charger on it. If the main pump 120 volt power goes out your 12 volt unit will work. You need to set the 12 volt pump just a little higher up so the 120 volt will kick in and out before the 12 volt. A couple of people around here have done that AFTER a flood and now it works just fine.
