I forgot to include some details about our plow day. This is our 8th consecutive year.
1.We bring only tractors that are 1959 and older. 2.We do not allow any passengers while tractors are moving. We all are big on safety. 3.Drivers pay $5 to enter; that pays for porta potties and helicopter fuel. 4.No close tail-gating (easy to figure out why). 5.No showing off or ego trips of "my tractor is more powerful than yours" (I"m old enuf and ugly enuf to get you dis-invited the next year!).
The participants love the ground rules...we started with 8 tractors and have now hit 60 tractors! Even large-operation farmers are showing up with their dad"s or granddad"s old tractor that has been collecting dust for years, and grin while listening to "the old girl" purring away.
Local 4-H serves the food and makes a nice profit...the kids learn how to make change for customers without a computer; the leader loves it.
