Thanks "old". Yes, the pin might have been on the way out. I struggled with timing it, and that may be why.
Re: the suction tube, didn't check. Would rather not pull the oil pan. There was no screen related to the drain plug. Pan had an impact, as it was JBwelded. But could prime the pump if you could suggest a method.
I'll replace the pin, and figure out a way to prime the oil pump. Would filling the oil filter housing and then pressurizing via a connecting line work?
