In all of my years I've never seen purple martin bird houses that close to the ground or made out of metal before. We still make them out of wood by me and put them up on tall poles. I don't see any holes either. How do they get in? Or do they just have them closed up for winter? Take the metal off when they get back from the south? By me they just fly south for winter and leave the doors wide open all winter long. What's that on that pole above those two bird houses? Is that some kind of satellite dish? Your purple martins have satellite TV? Fancy birds out by your way. Satellite TV and metal houses. Holy cow. Our purple martins are pretty plain compared to yours.
