I really don't know much about the 4000. But, if it is anything close to my 5020 Mac Don that I bought last summer it is just one heck of a well designed piece of equipment. i just mowed 20 acres today and the only complaint that I had was my knees got stiff because I never had to push the clutch in or get out and unplug anything. Neighbor stopped by and remarked how his New Holland is such a rattle machine compared to the Mac Don. Those steel timed crimp rollers are so much smooother running while providing a better conditioning of the hay. Good Luck
