I would bet that your sleeping position is just better so the shoulder pain is less while you sleep. The torn rotator cuff will not "fix" itself. The guys I know that have had it done waited too long and they have much more after surgery issues.
I would get it fixed sooner than later. Also do all of the exercises and follow the rules on using it or your wasting your time. One fellow here felt better in a few days and just went back to business as usual. He torn up all the repair and had a useless arm until they could replace the joint.
