I have had a 8500 OfficeJet Pro from Office Depot for about 2 years. It has been a workhorse. My wife prints thousands of documents for her business, and it has been essentially flawless. It scans and faxes, and copies. We got it on sale for about 150. The cartridges are pretty expensive, but also massive and individual so only the one that is empty gets replaced. Canon is another brand that is worthy of consideration. Make sure it has a replaceable purge cleaning reservoir. SOme models hav no way of replacing the place that the cleaning ink gets squirted. I like HP personal sized LaserJet printers for black and white output. they are less expensive to operate per print by far if color is not important. Jim
