Any idiot can get hurt, but I know some illiterate people (literally can't read at all) that can grasp the idea of how to crank start an engine. Anyone posting on this site surely can read and understand that pulling it over is a lot different than trying to push it over. There is still no need to perpetuate the myth that any crank start engine is going to break your arm and shatter all your teeth, which is about what it sounds like the OP was told.
