something is wrong. A heat pump will run at about 300% efficiency. Electric baseboard can't come close to matching that. I am aware of many heat pumps in central Minnesota and have yet to hear of a major failure. A Neighbor has had his for 28 years with no problems. If they fail it would likely be the compressor and they are not that expensive to replace. As I indicted earlier, my total annual cost for heat and AC is about $500.00
