I have a 1 way cylinder too, and let it down till it touches, then a little more. If you have the springs adjusted right, it will cut just right. On occasion mine will creep up and the stubble gets ragged, then tedding does not go well there, plus baler will pull up the uncut stalks. So, keep it down.
