You are right about gmails and scammers on craigslist. If you use searchtempest you can see how many times the scammers have had their ad deleated. Scammers will post another one just about as fast as their goes poof, Flagged.
Another clue that you are dealing with a scammer their ad shows up on many different cragslist sites, which is against craigslist's policy.
