Appears it was a 56. But reading the description, it was a prototype engine, a 307 with 2 4's, 4 speed instead of PG. Now, where did they get a 307 in 56? Must have been a 283 (not yet released) with a 327 crank (still years from production). Wish I could have been there, but then I would have only been 1 year old!
Chevrolet trivia: When was the first V8 Chevy? 1955? Nope... I've only heard scant mention of this, but 1912 or 1913... It was a flathead, block cast in 2 pieces. Absolute miserable oil leaking failure. Only a few built, quickly discontinued. Wonder if this was the predecessor of the Vega?
