My own experience with Wheel Horse automatics (I've had two 1975 C-160's and now have a 1975 D-180) would point you to the interlock switches at either the seat or the PTO. To check the seat interlock, disconnect the wiring at the connector onder the seat and bypass the switch with a short piece of wire. It is also possible that the PTO interlock has simply come loose and does not fully engage when the PTO lever is in the disengaged position. Good luck! : : Looks like you're making some progress. When you say you have spark going to the coil, does that mean you have been able to get a spark at the sparkplug or the points? If so, then you will need to short across the solenoid like you did before to get the engine to crank. If youhave spark, it should start. : I'll be checking this thread and my e-mail periodically this evening, so if you want to e-mail me back I'll be watching. It may be easier for us to use e-mail since it is easier for me to access, the text editor is better and the computer lets me know when a message comes in. : Good Luck! : Thanks for the info. The connector to the ignition switch seems snug. I did as you suggested with the "hot wiring." I got spark going from the battery to the coil with then wire itself but nothing else happened, i.e. the engine didn't crank.
