The federal government owns roughly 240 million acres in Alaska, much of it in national parks that have to be managed and cost money although the feds get oil revenue as well. The second big ticket item is defense spending and then native american welfare, total it all up and it is not even a drop in the bucket compared to the federal tax payer dollars wasted in california, a state which is also as broke or broker than the feds. North Dakota's money is now and has always been farm payments, has nothing whatsoever to do with oil. But add the two states up and they have less than one 30th of californias population so all the ''per capita'' numbers mean nothing relatively. All of you living off of bloated federal, state or local retirement systems have a rude awakening coming in the next several years when the unsustainability reality sets in, california is a detroit in waiting.
