I also am unfamiliar with a Trojan, but my similar non-articulated vintage Cat was the answer to my dreams. My axles are independent, but no differential lock on either. I choose 2 or AWD, which is how mine is always operated on my mountain.
Turning radius is not small, but the tractor is more stable than an articulated one. I chose to give up small turning radius in exchange for staying shiny side up.
