Am I abusing the hydraulics?

Last night I was using my back blade on the 9N. I had extended the toplink to change the blade angle to dig in a bit. I noticed that the hydraulics would not raise all the way when the toplink was in this position. I left the blade up for around a half hour while I pulled a fence with a chain hooked to the front bumper. I noticed a rattling sound from behind the seat. I tried lowering the hydraulics and they stayed up. I disengaged the PTO and the rattle went away but the blade still stayed up. I turned off the tractor and the blade immediately lowered. I started the tractor again and everything worked fine. Any ideas? Is it OK to leave the hydraulics up when the toplink is stopping the blade 2/3 of the way up? Thanks! Jim
