In the Cincinnati area it's not uncommon for it to be only raining in Northern Kentucky while it's snowing hard and schools are closing in Franklin and Union Counties in Indiana. The weather varies enough that an area wide forecast will often be wrong someplace.
I used to work 3rd shift at Monsanto's Port Plastics Plant in Addyston, Oh, right on the Ohio River. There would be mornings that I left work and it was lightly raining. After I crossed into Indiana and started gaining altitude the rain would turn to snow, and when I got to the top of the hill the roads would be covered. That was only a 15 minute drive. How do you put that in a weather forecast?
