Weather down here usually breaks in the latter part of January to the point where you can get the cultivators out and prepare for the spring planting. February usually is a rough month. We are just now drying out from the ice and snow plus several 1/2 to 1" rains through Dec, early Jan. Field still has water standing in terraces. We are up for 10 days of sunshine so it looks like it will be a normal year to get the fields ready.
Last couple of years, December has been the bad boy and the remainder of winter was somewhat mild.
