I have been fortunate to have seen them twice in my life. The first time I was only seven, maybe eight years old. Dad had stepped outside to pee one night and came in all excited, we all stepped out and watched the lights for several minutes. Later,I was in my early 30s and looked out the back door one night and saw a display for just a few minutes. That is unusual for central North Carolina.
