During Christmas, the subject of tides came up for some reason. I lived on the Island of Newfoundland for two years at Ernest Harmon Air Force base when I was in the Army back in the 50's. I never remember anything about tides. For the first couple months I lived in St. Georges on the other side of the bay with the supply Sgt. from the co. and we crossed the bridge on the inland end of the bay twice a day going to an from base. I must have been preoccupied or have forgotten anything about the tide. We did some fishing on the beach and a lot of river fishing also. Seems strange I don't recall anything about tides when it had to be happening. Was called the Rock,(the island that is). Some spoke of pulling the plug and sinking it when they left. Now, I would love to go back there, but that is not going to happen.
