Nothing works unless there is stability. Was there speculation in the gold market? Yes, there certainly was. There was also speculation in all the stocks, some gained, most lost. If you bought gold in Jan 94 at $599. and sold in Jan 04 at $503. you'd have lost a few dollars. If you bought at either time and had it today you would have more than doubled you money. If you'd sold in Oct of 11 you'd have more than tripled your 04 investment. That's just sitting on it. If you'd bought the right tech stock on the early days of the bubble you might have made incredible gains- maybe. Or you might have lost your shirt. Just how many 100-300% gain stocks are there in a 10 year period?
