We still have one such old hardware store still surviving. It's Nichols Hardware located in Purcellville, VA. If we are in the need of anything remotely out of the ordinary, we always go out of our way to make the trip to Nichols. They are sure to have it and in MANY cases their prices are better on MOST items than the big box stores (Home Depot & Lowes). The old wooden floors are still in place as are the walls lined with storage bins. You won't get a computer generated receipt either, they still hand write their receipts!
