When he was brought home our Chihuahua had taken a little liking too him, in sort of a motherly fashion, but she was still a bit reserved. On the other hand the Lab would have absolutely nothing to do with him. At that time I had a bad feeling something was wrong, beyond the other dogs just being jealous, as they tend to have a sense when something is wrong with another dog/animal. What I"m figuring happened is that the little guy was having problems from birth and it"s mother probably quit taking care of it due to that. That would explain the condition he was in when he was found if he hadn"t been nursed, etc by the mother for awhile. That"s probably why he got thrown out in the first place.
That said, I had a bad feeling this was going to be the end result, but still tried to keep the faith that we would be able to turn things around and get him back to full health. Had it not been for my "bad feeling" from the start this whole situation would have been harder to get through than it already is. I still "talk tough" and "act tough" about the whole thing, but it doesn"t make getting through it with dry eyes any easier.......
